[flist_display_details]

Täpp initially launched in 2017 as a string loop pedal duo and has now evolved into a collective of artists from across the UK keen to push the boundaries of music.  Täpp combine traditional and contemporary string instruments and techniques with electronics and modern instruments to create distinctive music that explores a multitude of genres. Their music covers an eclectic range of musical styles from classical music, jazz and trad. folk to electronic dance music, beats and bassline, alt.rock and world music. Täpp aim to stimulate your curiosity, breakthrough stereotypes, and awaken a new music movement.

Collectively the ensemble draws inspiration from artists such as Bach and Paganini, Eddie South, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Pharoah Sanders, Steve Reich, Philip Glass, Aphex Twin, Fourtet, Soulwax, Flying Lotus and Erykah Badu to name a few. Their music explores the interplay between jazz harmony/improvisation and classical composition, producing a unique tonal narrative that captures your imagination.

Täpp’s music crosses boundaries and defies the stereotypes of what is traditionally expected from classical or historical instruments. Their music is original and future forward. Their sound is immersive and their creative process is captivating to watch and listen to. They’re able to recreate a number of varying sound worlds; from ambient neoclassical soundscapes and film soundtracks to uplifting house beats and West African inspired polyrhythmic creations. Their music is versatile and speaks to a large and diverse audience.

The ensemble have performed extensively across the UK since 2017 including performances at Band On the Wall and Manchester Jazz Festival. Täpp have appeared on NTS, Worldwide FM, BBC Introducing and BBC 1Xtra. Their debut independent album release ‘I like what I do // I do what I like’ is out on Friday 18th June on all major streaming platforms.
