Anna Grevelius

Swedish mezzo-soprano Anna Grevelius studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and was later accepted to the Benjamin Britten International Opera School at Royal College of Music, as a Sir Thomas Allen Scholar. She then joined the National Opera Studio for the 2006/07 season. Anna was the winner of the 2004 Gerald Moore Award’s Singer’s Prize and the 2006 RCM Lies Askonas Competition. She was also the recipient of the ‘Prix Gabriel Dussurget 2009’, awarded by the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence.

This season will see Anna Grevelius return to Grange Park Opera to sing Roméo in Roméo et Juliette, alongside concert performances with Orchestre Symphonique de Mulhouse and the Malmö Chamber Music Festival in Sweden. Last season Anna made her debut as Zerlina at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées under the baton of Jérémie Rhorer and reprised the role of Donna Elvira at the Nederlandse Reiseopera, conducted by Julia Jones. Concert engagements included recitals at the 2016 Malmö Chamber Music Festival and performances at the Oxford Lieder Festival.

Operatic roles in previous seasons have included Donna Elvira, Don Giovanni for Opera de Rouen and the Royal Opera of Versailles, Annio, La Clemenza di Tito for La Monnaie, Brussels; Kitty Oppenheimer, Dr. Atomic for Opéra National du Rhin; Rosina, The Barber of Seville, Siebel, Faust, Nerone, L’Incoronazione di Poppea, Pitti-Sing, The Mikado and Fyodor, Boris Godunov for English National Opera; Varvara, Káťa Kabanová in a David Alden production for the ENO and Teatro Nacional de São Carlos, Lisbon; Cherubino, Le Nozze di Figaro for Opera National de Paris, Göteborg Opera and Garsington Opera; Juno, Platée, with René Jacobs for De Nederlandse Reisopera; Dorabella, Così fan tutte and Cecilio, Lucio Silla for the Classical Opera Company; Prince Orlofsky, Die Fledermaus and the title role in The Rape of Lucretia for the RCM; Onoria, Handel’s Ezio for the RCM and the London Handel Festival; 2nd Lady, The Magic Flute conducted by René Jacobs and 2nd Witch, Dido and Aeneas for the Aix-en-Provence Festival; Proserpina, Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo for Drottningholms Slottsteater; and a water-nymph in Rusalka at Grange Park Opera.
